Africa
In 2004, OneWorld Sustainable was invited by the University of Georgia's Office of International Public Service and Outreach to participate in a trade mission to Africa as a representative of the solar industry. Almost immediately upon our arrival, we developed a working partnership with Henry Watitwa of Kenya-based Bright Home Solar Energy (BHSE). Henry and BHSE have been providing small, off-grid PV systems throughout East Africa since 1997. By combining our efforts we have provided PV systems to numerous East African communities since our partnership began. The PV systems provided and installed by OneWorld Sustainable and BHSE, while typically consisting of only a few panels, are enough to provide electricity for essential needs such as lighting, refrigeration for vaccines, and power for computers or cell phones. Our projects have also created economic opportunities for local businesses and tradesmen throughout East Africa.
With heart-felt appreciation...
After 2 days of installation this weekend, we are all so excited to finally have electricity back in our interim care centre for street children! Your team worked so hard, and the children really enjoyed watching all the action and helping whenever possible!
Henry will be coming back in the next two weeks to make sure that all is well, and that we understand how best to use and maintain the system. Aside from making the centre safer and more comfortable, I know the whole process is going to be an invaluable lesson for the children and staff alike (myself included) on how to appreciate and conserve power.
Very best wishes,

Hallo Tim,
I don't have words to use to express our gratitude to you! We give what we have and can afford: that is our prayers, that The Almighty may always look favourably on your life and the work of your hands!
You and other friends you work with helped to change our lives down here forever! You added value to our place and our purpose! You will always be in our hearts. Please extend our gratitude to the members of OneWorld Sustainable! God bless them all.
Our solar power is very stable and the locals and ourselves can now charge our phones, the computer is terrific, and lighting at night is wonderful! We even allow other students who are not in residence to come and study then go back home. We intend to allow students from other schools, residing nearby, to use the facility at night.
God bless you and we shall always keep in touch."
